Application of a 70-Gene Expression Profile to Japanese Breast Cancer Patients

Abstract: Background: As data on using MammaPrint®, a 70-gene expression profile for molecular subtyping of breast cancer, are limited in Japanese patients, we aimed to determine the gene profiles of Japanese patients using MammaPrint and to investigate its possible clinical application for selecting adjuvant treatments. Patients and Methods: 50 women treated surgically at our institution were examined. The MammaPrint results were compared with the St Gallen 2007 and intrinsic subtype risk categorizations. Results: Of 3… Show more

“…However, the long-term prognostic significance of the 21-gene RS has not been evaluated in Japanese patients. Moreover, the 70-gene MammaPrint assay has been tested in Japanese women with early breast cancer, but its prognostic value is unclear [ 26 , 27 ]. The multigene assay, Curebest 95GC Breast (Sysmex Corporation, Kobe, Japan), which measures the expression of 95 genes using DNA microarray, was developed in Japan [ 28 ] and is available for research purposes.…”

“…Numerous studies have published utility scores for health states related to PC assessed using various methods [3338]. We chose the utility scores estimated by Stewart et al [37] on a sample of patients aged 60 (the mean/median patient age in the included study in our meta-analysis centered around this value, Table 3) and over.…”

“…Our major research interest is to develop prognostic and predictive factors for breast cancer; for example, the application of a 70-gene expression profile to Japanese breast cancer patients is our recent work 14) .…”
