Application Life Cycle Assessment to Diammonium Phosphate Production

Abstract: Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) is an important crop nutrient for plants and its use is increasing day by day with increase in population. Life cycle assessment (LCA) is an important tool in the evaluation of the environmental performance of the product/ system throughout the life cycle. In this paper, LCA has been used to evaluate the performance of the Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer production. The system investigated includes DAP production process. The quantification of environmental emissions, material … Show more

“…Emissions from offset of electricity were estimated using Idaho Power's fuel source mixture (Idaho Power, 2018) and a study by Turconi et al (2013). The offset of mineral fertilizer was calculated based on production emissions for diammonium phosphate (DAP; (Manjare & Mohite, 2012)), with an NPK value of 18‐45‐0, similar to other studies (Foley et al, 2010; Sørensen et al, 2015). The use of biosolids and struvite in lieu of DAP assumed application on a P‐limiting basis.…”
