Application and prospects of robotic surgery in children: a scoping review

Abstract: As an innovative minimally invasive surgical technology, robot-assisted surgery (RAS) has greatly improved the accuracy and safety of surgery through the advantages of three-dimensional magnification, tremor filtering, precision and flexibility, and has been carried out by an increasing number of surgeries. In recent years, robots have been gradually applied to children, bringing new ideas and challenges to pediatric surgeons. This review will describe the advantages and limitations of robotic surgery in child… Show more

“…The questionnaire was designed by referring to experts' consensus (Brindle et al, 2020), and the relevant reviews (Roberts et al, 2020;Rove et al, 2018;Shu & Tou, 2019;Wu et al, 2019). It consisted of three parts corresponding to knowledge, attitudes, and self-reported practices of ERAS among paediatric surgical nurses.…”

“…The field of pediatric robotic-assisted surgery holds significant promise, especially for performing precise and intricate procedures on a small scale. The technology’s exceptional precision, flexibility, and little invasiveness make it highly suitable for the rigorous requirements of pediatric surgery, allowing surgeons to manipulate intricate anatomical structures with unparalleled accuracy [ 16 ]. This innovative method is revolutionizing pediatric healthcare by reducing surgical trauma, accelerating recovery, and improving long-term outcomes for pediatric patients [ 13 , 16 ].…”

“…The safety and e cacy of robot-assisted surgery have been established in the pediatric eld, with its use steadily expanding to various pediatric surgical subspecialties [1][2][3]. Additionally, continuous innovations in robotic technology, including the development of new platforms, miniaturization of instruments, and cost reduction, are expected to accelerate the adoption of pediatric robotic surgeries [2,4,5].…”
