Apple rootstocks with different phosphorus efficiency exhibit alterations in rhizosphere bacterial structure

Abstract: Aims: The purpose of this study was to select phosphorus-efficient apple rootstocks under phosphorus deficiency and to reveal the effects of different apple rootstocks on the rhizosphere bacterial community. Methods and Results: We used 83 hybrid lines of Malus robusta Rehd. 9 Malling 9 (M.9) to investigate their physiological traits and the phosphorus deficiency phenotypes of leaves in response to phosphorus deficiency (0Á1 mmol l À1 PO 4 3À ). All the plants were cultivated in pots in the greenhouse and wate… Show more

“…Previously, much research on root microorganisms of woody plants has focused on the rhizosphere, but few studies have considered the microbes that live inside the root system. For example, the different P efficiency of apple rootstock root system can recruit different kinds of microorganism ( Chai et al, 2019 ). But what about the microbial structure within in the root systems of different rootstocks?…”

“…Then, the DNA concentration was diluted to 1ng/ μl with sterile water ( Du et al, 2020 ). 16S rRNA/ITS genes of distinct regions (16S V4-V5, ITS1) were amplified using specific primers with barcodes ( Schoch et al, 2012 ; Chai et al, 2019 ).…”
