“…Redirecting the discussion to the current context, it is important to highlight the latest advances of the feminist movement around Latin America to reflect upon organizations that fight against gender violence. For Martínez (2019, p. 117), “the feminist movement exploded onto the global political scene in 2015”, with the collective organization of thousands of women who took to the streets to give visibility to the different forms of violence in the daily lives of population. The manifestations “#Ni una menos and #8M” are examples of events that spread a feminist reflection from May 2017 and 2018 through the different social classes in several countries such as Chile, Argentina and Brazil.…”

Within the organization of the International Women's Day, themes such as autonomy, body, freedom and violence were highlighted through the slogans like: “I want to go home without fear”; “this body is mine… don't touch it… don't rape it … don't kill it ”; “we do not want power over men, but over ourselves” (Martínez, 2019, p. 120, own translation).…”

“…Figures 1 and 2: Despite its recent implementation in 2016, today Casa Tina Martins is one of the principal hubs of support and monitoring for women in situations of violence in the state of Minas Gerais (Brazil), maintained and backed by the members of the Olga Benário movement. This initiative is linked to a broader gender violence resistance movement that, as pointed out by Aleixo (2020), Gago (2019) and Martínez (2019), has other examples throughout Latin America. In addition to acting as a shelter for women who can no longer stay in their homes close to an aggressor, it is also a space for joint‐development with local and academic communities, of different types of projects related to gender violence.…”
