Abstract:Apoptosis is a form of active cell death that proceeds along genetically determined and interacting pathways of biochemical reactions. It is essential for development and continuous physiological cell renewal in multicellular organisms. A deregulation of apoptosis contributes to the pathogenesis of various human diseases such as cancer, autoimmune disorders and neurodegenerative pathologies.
