Recommendations for J. curcas plants were studied for adequate crop spacing, and to increase the number of female and hermaphrodite flowers and fruit yields. The study was carried out in an experimental field in Brazil,using four-year-old adult plants in a 5 x 3 factorial in a completely randomized design with three replications. Treatments included five doses of the growth regulator kinetin (0, 3, 6, 9 and 12 mg L-1 at the volume of 330 ml per plant) in a single application to six plants and three planting spaces (3×3, 3×2, 3×1 m). The results showed that the applied kinetin doses did not interfere in the production index of J. curcas, but population density exerted a significant influence on the vegetative and reproductive development of the J. curcas plants in the 3x3 spacing, where competition for essential growth resources (water, light and nutrients) seems to have been less intense and the plants were more vigorous. Cropping J. curcas plants in 3 × 3 spacing is recommended to obtain vigorous plants with a high number of branches, inflorescences and high grain yield. Applying kinetin at concentrations lower than 12 mg L-1 did not interfere in the sexual expression of J. curcas flowers. Further studies with higher kinetin doses in 3 × 3 m spacing are necessary to elucidate and recommend new management practices.

The objective of the present study was to identify the effect of kinetin on Capsicum frutescens fruit yield. The research was carried out between October 2015 and September 2016 in the experimental field at the State University of Goiás, Brazil. This region has a tropical climate with a dry winter and wet summer. The experiment was conducted in rainy conditions (without irrigation) in a randomized block design with five treatments (plants submitted to 0, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 mg L-1 kinetin in volume of 30 ml/plant/application in a total of two applications at a 40-day interval, started at the R 2 reproductive stage), six replications and the plots consisted of two useful plants. The variables stomata density, specific leaf area, stem and canopy diameter, length and width of completely opened leaves did not fit the linear and quadratic regression models in function of the kinetin doses applied. Kinetin increased fruit drain strength and increased productivity of Capsicum frutescens. Plants treated with this cytokinin showed vigorous vegetative growth and significant increases in concentrations of photosynthetic pigments. The use of kinetin in Capsicum frutescens plants is a promising practice in the management of the species because it promotes morphophysiological adjustments in the plant that increase vegetative vigor and fruit yield.

O presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o efeito dos brassinosteróides no crescimento de mudas de pinhão sob déficit hídrico. O experimento foi realizado na Universidade Estadual de Goiás, Unidade de Ipameri- Goiás, em casa de vegetação com 100% de interceptação da radiação solar. As mudas de Jatropha curcas, foram plantadas em vasos de cinco litros, contendo uma mistura de solo, areia e esterco na proporção de 3:1:0,5, respectivamente. O experimento foi conduzido em um delineamento inteiramente casualizado, no esquema fatorial 3x5 [hormônio (0,0, 0,25 e 0,50mg L-1) x restrição hídrica (níveis de suprimento hídrico: 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% e 100% da evapotranspiração diária)] em três repetições. Após 15 dias de imposição dos tratamentos foram avaliadas características morfofisiológicas, transpiração, teor relativo de água, pigmentos fotossintéticos e extravasamento de eletrólitos. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância, com médias comparadas empregando-se o teste de Newman-Keuls ao nível 5% de probabilidade. A aplicação de brassinosteróides via foliar não amenizou os efeitos do déficit hídrico nas plantas, interferindo decisivamente no crescimento do pinhão manso. Houve menor área foliar com a pulverização com solução de 0,25mg L-1 associado a menor evapotranspiração.
