“…In humans, pulmonary input impedance can be measured using a catheter with tip-mounted flow probe and pressure transducer [ 16 ]. Zc was reported to be 20–37 dyn·s/cm 5 in normal adults [ 17 22 ], and 46–124 dyn·s/cm 5 in patients with pulmonary hypertension [ 17 , 19 , 21 , 23 , 24 ] (Table 1 ). Several studies also report measurement of pulmonary input impedance in clinical settings using pressure recorded by fluid-filled catheter systems and flow velocity simultaneously recorded by Doppler echocardiography [ 24 , 25 ].…”

“…Aside from study of pulmonary Zc patterns in healthy individuals and Pre‐cPH, limited work has been done to evaluate pulmonary Zc in patients with PH secondary to mitral stenosis or left ventricular failure. Patterns of pulmonary Zc in patients with mitral stenosis and/or left ventricular failure have previously demonstrated an increase in the resistive component of modulus, an increase in frequency of the first minimum of the modulus and of phase cross over, as well as an increase in pulmonary Zc (Chen et al, 1990 ; Kussmaul et al, 1992 , 1988 ; Milnor et al, 1969 ). These findings were also observed of our cohort with Ipc‐PH.…”

“…From this cluster the following publications were selected for further research: PMID 21996190, "Systemic Vascular Hemodynamics and Transplanted Kidney Survival" [9], used to examine the importance of impedance mismatch in the kidneys, PMID 11281995, "Low Compliance Rather than High Reflection of Arterial System Decreases Stroke Volume in Arteriosclerosis: A Simulation" [10] and PMID 9709398, "Pulmonary Impedance and Right Ventricular-Vascular Coupling in Endotoxin Shock" [11], used to examine impedance mismatch and sepsis, and finally PMID 2273555, "Aortic and Pulmonary Input Impedance in Patients with Cor Pulmonale". [12], examining impedance mismatch and the lungs. (4) Cluster 4 (2 pubs) contained the following words: "pacing leads ventricular atrial left chamber".…”
