Anxiety disturbs the blood plasma metabolome in acute coronary syndrome patients

Abstract: Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the result of a complex metabolic disorder caused by various environmental and genetic factors, and often has anxiety as a comorbidity. Rupture of atherosclerotic plaque in CHD patients can lead to acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Anxiety is a known independent risk factor for the adverse cardiovascular events and mortality in ACS, but it remains unclear how stress-induced anxiety behavior impacts their blood plasma metabolome and contributes to worsening of CHD. The present study… Show more

“…Wang et al screened differentiated metabolites to explore the effect of the density of chickens during rearing on chicken performance, and they found that the pentose and glucuronate interconversions pathway and the pentose phosphate pathway had the most significant influence in high density groups of birds [ 62 ]. Various studies suggested that the two pathways were roughly regarded to the kinds of aberrant physiological conditions exhibited [ 61 , 63 , 64 ]. Therefore, these pathways may have combined to reduce oxidative stress that resulted from selective breeding for greater meat yield.…”

“…In this study, a positive correlation was found between depression and phobia scores, and it was found that patients with psychiatric comorbidities had high both phobia and depression scores. Considering that comorbid depression (37) and anxiety (38) cause an increase in poor prognosis and mortality rates for patients with CVD and that existing psychiatric disease contributes to the development of comorbidities, this correlation we found indicates that the mental and physical effects of the pandemic may be much higher than expected.…”
