“…A study on the gastroprotective effect of cyperenoic acid, a terpenoid constituents of "yagua rova" and its semisynthetic derivatives was carried out by Pertino et al (2006). Some Euphorbiaceae diterpenes isolated from plants traditionally used to treat gastric lesions including transdehydrocrotonin (DHC) (Souza-Brito et al, 1998;Hiruma-Lima et al, 1999;Rodríguez et al, 2004), DHC derivatives , trans-crotonin (Hiruma-Lima et al, 2002), crotonin (Albino de Almeida et al, 2003), cordatin (Hiruma-Lima et al, 2000) and aparisthman from Aparisthmium cordatum (Hiruma-Lima et al, 2001) have been reported as powerful gastroprotective agents. Other terpenoids obtained from plants used in traditional medicine and presenting good gastroprotective effect include sesquiterpene lactones, poligodial, triterpenes and carbenoxolone from Glycyrrhiza glabra (Schmeda-Hirschmann and Yesilada, 2005).…”
