“…In the middle and lower panels of Figure 1, 2 clones (AS1 and AS2) exhibited a significant reduction of the signal corresponding to a protein band around 120 kDa, which matches the molecular weight of MAN 6A8. Since MAN 6A8 catalyses the hydrolysis of p ‐nitro‐phenyl‐α‐D‐mannopyranoside,9 the enzymatic activity of cell homogenate on this substrate was determined. A reduction was observed with homogenates of AS1 and AS2 cells.…”

“…Our study was carried out on a human nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell line, CNE‐2L2. Because the chemicals mentioned above cannot specifically suppress a given α‐mannosidase and usually have side effects1 and particularly because swainsonine has no effect on MAN 6A8,8 we used the antisense technique9 to inhibit mRNA translation of MAN 6A8. It was found that the malignant behaviors of CNE‐2L2 cells, both in vitro and in vivo , were significantly reduced when MAN 6A8 expression was inhibited.…”

“…Antisense ODN constitutes a potentially important family of therapeutic compounds for the treatment of a range of diseases. 19 In our study, we used antisense ODN strategy to inhibit the NF-kB pathway. Antisense technologies have been used both in vitro and in vivo to inhibit expression of NF-kB proteins in a variety of experimental systems.…”

“…When a pathogen invades the body, it interacts with specific surface receptors on T and B lymphocytes, causing their activation and production of effector T cells and antibodies that neutralize the pathogen. Many researchers have reported dangerous immune responses with AS ODNs [72]. When phosphorothioates were administered to monkeys as a large, one-time injection, they triggered a systemic and lethal inflammation by activating complement.…”
