“…Previous reports have indicated that rooibos reduced age-related lipid peroxide accumulation (measured as TBARS) in the brain of overage rats consuming the tea for 21 months and inhibited MDA formation in rat tissues and liver microsomal preparations [31,72,92,96]. Recent reports in humans also revealed that rooibos consumption significantly decreased plasma MDA levels in lead factory workers [27] and also significantly lowered plasma CD and MDA levels in adults at the risk for cardiovascular diseases taking 6 cups of rooibos per day for 6 weeks [28].
