Antioxidative Effect and Tyrosinase Inhibitory Activity of the Unripened Fruit Extract of Rubus coreanus Miquel

“…This model detects most ROS (O2·, · OH and H 2 O 2 ), with the exception of 1 O 2 . When luminol is oxidized, luminescence is emitted (420–450 nm); therefore, ROS scavenging compounds reduce the luminescence output . The scavenging activities of licoricidin and a reference compound are shown in Fig.…”

“…Human erythrocytes are an acceptable cell type that can be used to measure the effects of ROS on lipid peroxidation, protein oxidation, destruction of antioxidants and haemolysis of cells. In addition, as erythrocytes isolated from humans can be used, data on the antioxidant activity of compounds can be extrapolated to clinical settings . Using rose bengal as a sensitizer to ROS‐dependent cellular damage, we evaluated whether licoricidin exhibited any protective effects.…”

“…The follow-up reaction after the 2 oxidation reactions occurs spontaneously. Therefore, the reaction catalyzed by tyrosinase determines the overall reaction rate, and inhibition of tyrosinase activity is an important factor for evaluation of depigmentation effects (33). Inhibitory activities of mung bean seed and sprout extract fractions on in vitro tyrosinase activity are shown in Fig.…”

“…Taghi et al found that ellagic acid had central and peripheral antinociceptive effect in experimental pain model [ 19 ], which supports the analgesic effect of immature R. occidentalis based on our findings. In addition, R. coreanus fruit have potential applications owing to their antioxidative effects mediated via the scavenging of reactive oxygen species [ 20 ]. Therefore, it is suggested that components with the observed antioxidative activity are degraded during the ripening process.…”
