Polyherbal feminine hygiene wash products have gained significant popularity in recent years due to their perceived benefits for women’s intimate health. The Indian fast-moving consumable goods (FMCG) market is flooded with various brands of feminine hygiene washes. Maintaining a balanced vaginal ecosystem necessitates the use of active substances in these washes. Products marketed as medically oriented cleansers to healthcare professionals are classified as cosmetics. The widespread use of feminine wash (soap) among women of reproductive age aims to alleviate symptoms linked to vaginal infections, such as itching, burning sensations, vaginal discharge, and unpleasant odors. Vaginal infections impact a significant proportion, ranging from 10 to 75%, of women during their reproductive years, potentially stemming from yeast, bacteria, or parasites. Understanding the effects of ingredients in feminine hygiene wash formulations is crucial in managing these concerns. This paper aims to explore the cognizance, formulation and health implications associated with polyherbal feminine hygiene washes. It provides an overview of the formulation, ingredients, and claims made by these products. Additionally, it addresses the scientific evidence and potential risks linked to their use. The paper seeks to inform consumers, healthcare professionals, and policymakers about the key aspects of polyherbal feminine hygiene washes and their implications for women’s health. In conclusion, this review provides a collective dataset regarding different chemical and polyherbal hygiene wash products available in the market, fostering a comprehensive understanding of these product’s landscape. The findings underscore the need for informed decision-making and regulatory considerations in the usage of these products to ensure women’s well-being.

Purpose: This study aimed to explore the differences in the antioxidant activity and anti-inflammatory effects of Gloiopeltis furcata based on its extraction conditions.Methods: 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) assays were performed to determine the antioxidant activity of Gloiopeltis furcata extracts obtained using different concentrations of ethanol. Concomitantly, the concentrations of polyphenols and flavonoids, which are antioxidants present in Gloiopeltis furcata extract, were measured. Additionally, in cell-based experiments, the cytotoxicity and anti-inflammatory activity of a water extract, which exhibited the most potent antioxidative activity among all extracts, was measured.Results: In the DPPH assay, the Gloiopeltis furcata extract exhibited an antioxidant activity of 3.576 mg of ascorbic acid/g, whereas in the ABTS assay, the antioxidant activity was 4.892 mg of ascorbic acid/g. The polyphenol concentration was found to be 35.52±2.32 mg/g, whereas the flavonoid concentration was 0.88±0.34 mg/g. Furthermore, the extract had a cytotoxicity of ≤20% at all concentrations used in the experiment, thus indicating the absence of cytotoxicity and confirming that the extract was effective in reducing inflammation proportionally to its concentration. Moreover, the extract exhibited an anti-inflammatory activity of 47.66%±1.53% at a concentration of 100 μg/mL.Conclusion: Gloiopeltis furcata exhibited the most potent antioxidant activity in its water extract, and it was confirmed that the extract of Gloiopeltis furcata that was obtained through water had low cytotoxicity, an anti-inflammatory effect, and a commercial value.

Purpose: This study aimed to extract phyto DNA from the adventitious root of Aloe vera and confirm its role in improving and regenerating skin and antiaging properties caused by blue light.Methods: Phyto DNA was extracted and a complex containing polylysine and Poly (amidoamine) was made. The antioxidant activity was confirmed using the DPPH method. The MTT test was performed on fibroblasts. The expression of SOD1, FLG, LOR, COL1A1, and MMP1 was measured using RT–PCR after blue light irradiation on HaCaT cells. The wound-healing test was performed. A phyto DNA complex cream formulation was created. Using this method, skin epidermal water loss was determined after human application.Results: At 0.85% of the cation polymer–phyto DNA complex concentration, 100% of fibroblasts survived. At 0.1% concentration, the antioxidant effect was 93%. After being exposed to blue light, only 40.4% of fibroblasts survived, but after being treated with a 100 μg/mL complex, 80.5% survived. At a mineral–cation-phyto DNA complex ratio of 10:1, the expression of skin barrier factors was highest. About 95.7% of HaCaT cells regenerated at 10:1 ratio of the mineral with phyto DNA complex in comparison to complex with only the minerals without phyto DNA.Conclusion: Phyto DNA from aloe vera’s adventitious root has no cytotoxicity, has excellent DPPH free radical scavenging ability, and can mitigate blue light cytotoxicity. It can improve skin barrier function by increasing the expression of barrier factors via a synergistic action in a specific ratio composition of phyto DNA, cationic polymer, and mineral complexes.
