Antioxidant, Anti-Inflammatory and Antiproliferative Activity ofAngelica DahuricaRoot Extracts

Abstract: Angelica dahurica (Umbelliferae) is widely used as a herbal ingredient in functional foods and folk medicine. This study was designed to examine the antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory and antiproliferative activities of water and ethanol extracts of A. dahurica (AD) root. Antioxidant properties of AD root extracts were studied using methods, including 2′‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), 2,2′‐azino‐bis(3‐ethylbenzothiazoline‐6‐sulfonate) (ABTS) and hydroxide radical‐scavenging activity at a dose of 0.12–2.0 mg/mL.… Show more

“…The multiple pharmacological effects of Baizhi root extracts include antioxidation (Piao et al 2004 ), anti-inflammatory (Pervin et al 2014 ), antiproliferative (Yousif et al 1999 ), skin whitening (Cho et al 2006 ), anti-tumor (Kim et al 2007 ), antimicrobial (Kwon et al 1997 ) and anti-Alzheimer effects (Marumoto and Miyazawa 2010 ). These effects are believed to be attributed to the plant’s rich furanocoumarin compounds such as imperatorin and isoimperatorin.…”
