Antioxidant and free radical-scavenging properties of seeds flavonoids extract of Cedrus atlantica Manetti, Linum usitatissimum L. and Ocimum basilicum L. species

Abstract: This work aims to evaluate the antioxidant activity of seeds flavonoids extract of Cedrusatlantica Manetti (Pinaceae), Linum usitatissimum L. (Linaceae) and Ocimum basilicum L. (Lamiaceae) species by using the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH) method. In DPPH scavenging assay the IC50value of the extract was found to be respectively 0.40, 1.21 and 0.41 mg.ml -1 while to the IC50 value of the reference standard Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) was 0.003 mg.ml -1 .
