“…In isolates from human samples, especially resistance to amoxicillin, amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, cefazolin cephalothin, colistin, nalidixic acid, trimethoprim-sulphamethoxazole and tetracyclines was detected (Aravena-Roman et al, 2012;Ghenghesh et al, 2013;Soltan Dallal et al, 2016). Many isolates showed multi-resistance to various antibiotic substances (Piotrowska & Popowska, 2014).…”

“…from fish were resistant to ampicillin, amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, piperacillin, ticarcillin-clavulanic acid, ceftriaxone, ceftazidime, ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, cefepime, aztreonam, imipenem, amikacin, netilmicin and chloramphenicol (Dias et al, 2012). In food samples, aeromonads resistant to amoxicillin, ampicillin, bacitracin, cefadroxil, cloxacillin, erythromycin, kanamycin, methicillin, neomycin, novobiocin, oxacillin, penicillin, polymyxin-B, rifampicin, tetracyclines, trimethoprimsulphamethoxazole and vancomycin are described (Ghenghesh et al, 2013;Stratev & Odeyemi, 2016;Vivekanandhan et al, 2002).…”

“…Results of the present study are also in tune with the findings of Sharma et al (2010) who isolated ciprofloxacin and amikacin sensitive Aeromonas strains from various foods of animal origin including fish. Ghenghesh et al (2013) recorded significantly higher tetracycline resistance in aeromonads from chicken carcass (33%) in contrast with the present study. Tetracyclines are common additives in poultry feed which can contribute to acquired resistance in poultry.…”

“…Moreover, previous studies reported 100% Aeromonas resistance rates to ampicillin (Aoki, Egusa, Ogata, & Watanabe, ; Igbinosa, ; Rall et al, ). Most A. hydrophila isolates have intrinsic or chromosomally mediated resistance to ampicillin (Ghenghesh, El‐Mohammady, Levin, Zorgani, & Tawil, ; Rall et al, ).…”
