Abstract

Antimicrobial Resistance in Clinical Strains of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia: 10-year surveillanceStenotrophomonas maltophilia is an opportunistic pathogen of increasing importance particularly in the immunocompromised patient population and community-acquired cases. Infections caused by S. maltophilia are difficult to manage because of its intrinsic resistance to many antibiotics. The aim of this study is to investigate the changes in the resistance rates of S. maltophilia strains over ten years and to evaluate the risk factors for S. maltophilia infection. In this study; antimicrobial resistance rates of 276 S. maltophilia strains isolated from various clinical specimens between January 2010-September 2019 were investigated retrospectively. Identification and antimicrobial susceptibilities of the isolates were studied by VITEK2 Compact (BioMérieux, France).
