“…The most common GC combinations identified in this study were dfrA27 + arr-3 , followed by dfrA12 + aadA2, dfrA12 + orf + aadA2, Inu(F) + aadA22 , and dfrA12 + aadA and so on. These findings aligned with previous studies by Liu et al (2022b) , Racewicz et al (2022) , Yu et al (2003) , Zhang et al (2021a) , and Zou et al (2018) , indicating a high degree of similarity in the GCs carried within the VRs of E. coli . In addition, we found a significant correlation between AMR phenotypes of CTX, TE, C, ATM, KAN, AMP, NFX, or SXT and the presence of class 1 integrons, which showed much more positive associations than our previous studies ( Zhang et al, 2021a ).…”

“… 16 This might be due to either absence of genes or additional mechanisms such as efflux pumps related to carbapenem resistance or innately weaker promoter resulting in weaker expression. 17 The antimicrobial resistance against fluoroquinolones was also strongly associated with the presence of integrons in our study. Many studies have reported this association previously in terms of presence of plasmid-mediated quinolones resistance (PMQR) genes, however, they could not detect any resistance gene directly from the integrons.…”
