Antimicrobial and toxicity tests of flavonoid total Dendrophthoe pentandra (L) miq from false ashoke tree (Polyalthia longifolia)

Abstract: Research on antimicrobial and toxicity tests of flavonoid total Dendrophthoe pentandra (L) Miq from false ashoke tree (Polyalthia longifolia) have been done. This study aims to determine the activity of toxicity of total flavonoid of Dendrophthoe pentandra (L) Miq as mistletoe of false ashoke tree (P. longifolia) based on Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method using Artemia salina Leach shrimp larvae obtained Lethal Concentration (LC 50) of 30.06 mg / L which means strong toxic activity. Antimicrobial test … Show more

“…Total flavonoids of DP leaves growing on Polyalthia longifolia (Sonn.) Thwaites (3%–9%) were deemed as potential antimicrobial agents against Streptococcus mutans , Escherichia coli , and Candida albicans with inhibitory zone diameters of 6 mm–17.25 mm, 3.55 mm–9.15 mm, and 4 mm–8.30 mm, respectively ( Fahmi et al, 2018 ). Furthermore, the aqueous extract of DF was able to inhibit the proliferation of several strains.…”

“…Mango leaves were extracted with methanol to generate methanol extract with a yield of 10.55 percent (b/b) and antifungal activity against Candida albicans with the highest inhibition zone at a concentration of 1000 ppm with an inhibition zone of 8.12 mm [10]. The results of the research by [6] the diameter of the inhibition zone against C. albicans was measured using the Agar Diffusion method on the leaves of the Green Champa tree parasite at total flavonoid sample concentrations of 3 %, 6 %, and 9 %, 8.30; 4 and 5.30 mm. This suggests that mango leaves and D. pentandra are related (L).…”
