Antiinflammation constituents from Curcuma zedoaroides

Abstract: Curcuma zedoaroides, a Zingiberaceae species, has been used for snake bite antidote and wound care in Thailand. Seven compounds were isolated from the bioactive chloroform extract consisted of one new guaiane sesquiterpene lactone, 5-epiphaeocaulisin A (4) and one new diarylheptanoid, 1,2,3,5-tetrahydroxy-1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-7-(4-hydroxyphenyl) heptane (7), together with five known guaiane-type sesquiterpene lactones including gweicurculactone (1), zedoalactone B (2), phaeocaulisin C (3), zedoalacton… Show more

“…According to high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis, we discovered that there were mainly three compounds in peak I. They were identified as gweicurculactone (m/z 229.1 [M+H] + ) [27] , compound 2 (m/z 679.5 [2 M+NH 4 ] + , m/z 701.5 [2 M+NH 3 +Na] + ) and curcuminol F (m/z 814.6 [2 M+H] + ) [28] with the retention time of 1.258 min, 6.269 min and 6.591 min, respectively ( Fig. 8 B-D).…”

“…It can also be divided into sesquiterpene alcohols, sesquiterpene aldehydes, sesquiterpene ketones, and sesquiterpene lactones according to the oxygen-containing functional groups. The sesquiterpenoids are also important constituents of plant volatile oils with a variety of pharmacological activities such as anti-cancer (Abu-Izneid et al, 2020), anti-oxidation (Zhang et al, 2021), anti-inflammatory (Tungcharoen et al, 2018;Lima et al, 2021), and anti-microbial (Perveen et al, 2020).…”

“…Guaiane sesquiterpene lactone in C. zedoaria chloroform extract decreases iNOS, cox-2, and tnf-α expression in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells. 50 The content of diarylheptanoid in Kaempferia galanga reduces NO production in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells. 51 In addition, Kaempferia galanga contains isopimarane diterpenoid compounds, which can reduce the tnf-α and cox-2 expression and NO production.…”
