Colletotrichum sp. and Fusarium sp. are significant fungal plant pathogen that affect chili plants. Various techniques are employed to manage the plant pathogens, including the application of biological agents such as Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt). This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of Bt AK08 in managing Colletotrichum sp. and Fusarium sp. Bt AK08 was subjected to dual-culturing experiments with the pathogens individually. Positive controls were employed in this study, consisting of Colletotrichum sp. and Fusarium sp. that were cultivated separately on pure potato dextrose agar. Propineb supplemented growth medium was serves as a negative control. The study involved the assessment of colony diameter of Colletotrichum sp. and Fusarium sp., as well as the evaluation of the antagonism activity exhibited by Bt AK08 through antibiosis activity and hyphal lysis. The findings indicated that Bt AK08 did not exhibit any antibiosis action since it did not result in a reduction in the colony diameter of the plant pathogenic fungus. However, we observed the breakdown of the hypha of the fungi. The present discovery suggests that Bt AK08 has promise as a potential agent for the management of Colletotrichum sp. and Fusarium sp. Hence, additional investigation is necessary to maximize its potential.

Phytopathogenic fungi cause significant damage to agriculture, reducing or destroying the crop. There are several ways to control fungal diseases, such as the use of disease-resistant plant varieties, organic farming, and the use of fungicides. One of the methods of combating phytopathogens is the use of biological products, one of which is biosurfactants. Biosurfactants are surfactants produced in the course of life. They are able to reduce fungal growth and increase plant disease resistance, improve plant growth and yield, and act as adjuvants to improve wetting and solubility of fertilizers. In the course of this work, the fungicidal activity of biosurfactants formed by Bacillus mojavensis PS17 was assessed against pathogens of the genera Fusarium and Verticillium. It has been established that the biosurfactant is able to reduce the coverage area of Fusarium and Verticillium fungi in in vitro experiments by 39 and 43%. Thus, it can be concluded that the biosurfactant produced by Bacillus mojavensis PS17 has antifungal activity.

Fusarium diseases cause serious damage to agricultural crops. In agricultural practice, various chemical fungicides, usually based on triazole, are often used to control fusariosis. This leads to the emergence of resistant forms among pathogenic fungi. An alternative to chemical fungicides treatments may be the use of biopreparations based on natural antagonists ofFusarium.BacillusandPaenibacillusbacteria isolated from farmland soils exhibit a high level of antagonism against phytopathogenic fungi of the genusFusarium. PCR-based analysis revealed that genes of non-ribosomal peptide synthases are present in the genomes of isolated bacterial strains, while these strains do not have any chitinase activity, so the antifungal effect seems to be provided predominantly by non-ribosomally synthesized peptides. The expression of the detected genes is increased in the presence of fungi during co-culturing, and this effect is strain-specific and pathogen-dependent. In light of these findings, the development of pathogen-specific drugs seems promising.
