Antiferromagnetic Ordering with an Anisotropy Reversal in USn_0.5Sb_1.5.

Abstract

0.5 Sb 1.5 . -Single crystals of the new title compound are prepared from a mixture of the elements with the atomic ratio U:Sn:Sb = 1:0.5:10 (1080°C, 10 h). As revealed by single crystal XRD, the compound crystallizes in the tetragonal space group P4/nmm with Z = 2. Magnetization and electrical resistivity measurements show that the compound orders antiferromagnetically below 177 K.
