Antiferromagnetic and topological states in silicene: A mean field study

Abstract: It has been widely accepted that silicene is a topological insulator, and its gap closes first and then opens again with increasing electric field, which indicates a topological phase transition from the quantum spin Hall state to the band insulator state. However, due to the relatively large atomic spacing of silicene, which reduces the bandwidth, the electron-electron interaction in this system is considerably strong and cannot be ignored. The Hubbard interaction, intrinsic spin orbital coupling (SOC), and e… Show more

“…The mech anism of this pseudo-Lifshitz transition can be attributed to two interlayer hoppings rather than one. Additionally, the obtained TB parameters can be used in further study, for instance, the magneto-optical response of one-dimensional nanotubes and nanoribbons [25], the transport properties calculations of defected graphene [26], the essential ingredients of many-body models [27,28].…”

“…Women's postpartum confinement has increasingly become a competitive field for the rights to make statements, claim power and earn capital. From a local knowledge perspective, the so-called universality of knowledge is a process of knowledge's standardization or generalization; that is, the process of a power struggle for knowledge (Liu, 2021). While recognizing this fact, one cannot devalue other knowledge-based traditions (including women's experiential knowledge traditions) in the name of science; nor can one deprive women practitioners of their choice among daily life practices in the name of science.…”

“…According to the first principle calculations, when the Coulomb interaction is strong, the competition between different mass terms will lead to the emergence of a new topological phase such as spinpolarized quantum anomalous Hall state. When the Hubbard interaction strength U < 2.485 eV, the induced gap is so small that it is usually disregarded [31]. So our model is a single-particle model as we assume the electron-electron interaction is weak.…”
