Although, there are several potential insecticidal compounds in neem extracts, the principle active ingredient is the tetranortriterpenoid, Azadirachtin (AZA), which has a profound effect on the feeding, growth, moulting and reproduction of insects (Lee et al 1991;Murugan et al 1998b).
