Antidiabetic potential: In vitro inhibition effects of bromophenol and diarylmethanones derivatives on metabolic enzymes

Abstract: Aldose reductase converts glucose to sorbitol in the polyol pathway. It is an important enzyme to prevent diabetic complications. In this study, we studied the inhibitory effects of bromophenol derivatives on aldose reductase (AR), α-glucosidase, and α-amylase enzymes. In the bromophenols series, compound 1f showed the maximum inhibition effect against AR with a K i value of 0.05 ± 0.01 μM, while compound 1d showed the lowest inhibition effect against AR with a K i value of 1.13 ± 0.99 μM. In addition, α-amyla… Show more

“…Thus, they efficiently reduce the postprandial monosaccharide units such as glucose in T2DM. [62,63] The main goal of this study is to determine the antioxidant activity of ethanolic (EEC) and aqueous (WEC) extracts of cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) using by distinct bioanalytical methods including the cupric (Cu 2+ ) and ferric (Fe 3+ ) ions reducing abilities, as well as ABTS •+ , DPPH • , and DMPD •+ scavenging activities. Also, LC-MS/MS analysis was used for determination of the phenolic profiles of tested for both extracts.…”

“…In this way, a disorder in any path generates an increasingly snowball effect in all metabolism. In living organisms, enzymes have a crucial role and catalyse almost all chemical reactions in metabolism . Many drugs and chemicals impact metabolism at low concentrations by increasing or decreasing regular enzyme activity, especially by inhibiting specific enzymes with critical function, and they are essential drug targets .…”
