Antibacterial Finishing of Cotton Textiles with Extract of Citrus Fruit Peels

Abstract: The objective of this study is to explore, evaluate and compare the antibacterial activity of a cotton fabric treated with essential oils extracted from green, orange & black (a mixture of both green and orange) lemon peel (Citrus limon). The Citrus limon peel is rich in nutrient such as flavonoid and essential oil that can be used for antimicrobial activity. The finishing agent, lemon peel extract was extracted by treatment with methanol using steam distillation techniques. The antimicrobial activities were e… Show more

“…According to the findings of this study, citrus lemons have greater, longer lasting antibacterial capability, with green lemon peel extract having a more efficient effect than the others. 110 Punica granatum and C. limon peel extracts have an antibacterial action on cotton fabric against skin infections. The phytochemical composition of P. granatum and C. limon peel extracts was determined.…”

“…Na osnovu rezultata bojenja pamučne tkanine upotrebljenim reaktivnim bojama, autori su zaključili da povećanje koncentracije natrijum hlorida u kupatilu za bojenje progresivno povećava supstantivnost a povećanje temperature smanjuje supstantivnost hidrolizovanih reaktivnih boja. Prisustvo neorganskih soli, pomoćnih sredstava na bazi tenzida i nefiksirane boje u otpadnoj vodi proizvodi štetne efekte: estetski je neprijatno, blokira sunčevu svetlost, doprinosi rastu algi, smanjuje nivo kiseonika u vodi, uništava floru i faunu u vodi, povećava alkalitet zemljišta i ubija žive organizme u vodi [11][12][13]. Nedavno je pruočavan učinak sredstava za pranje na bazi tenzida različitog jonogeniteta kao i čiste vode na uklanjanje hidrolizovanih reaktivnih boja različitih funkcionalnih grupa [14].…”

“…Thus in the present study, our interest was to produce CH/PVA nanofibers at various concentrations by electrospinning and to investigate its antimicrobial properties. There are large number of reports on the antimicrobial investigations of natural plant extracts and metal nanoparticles (Vastrad et al , 2018; Wolela, 2020). However, CH/PVA blends also prove equally good to be used as unique antimicrobial agents (Bonilla et al , 2014).…”
