Textile finishing processes cover a variety of steps in which various chemicals and methods can be used to functionalize the fabrics. The objective of this study is to investigate the usability of tea and tobacco industrial waste as natural dye sources and antibacterial agents for cotton fabrics. These wastes were collected from the related mills and used directly without previous extraction, as well as in extracted form. Dyeings were conducted at two different temperatures and the dyed samples were analyzed in terms of obtained colors, fastness values, and antibacterial efficiencies. Useful coloration of the cotton fabrics with sufficient fastness values was achieved, with bacterial reductions dependent upon treatment conditions. In general, waste from tea processing yielded better results.

T HE use of natural colors creates no problems for waste disposal and can provide naturally dyed fabrics. Dyes may be derived from natural resources since old times. And The revival of sustainable plant-based dyes now a day is becoming the demand for the global community in all fields.so in this review, we discuss the application of natural plant extracts such as peanutpod which usedin the dyeing of cotton fabric and using olive tree leaves and its extraction to dye cotton fabric and dyeing wool using henna extraction with the use of chitosan pretreatment instead of mordanting and also extract new natural mordant from oak and uses it In the dyeing of wool fabric.

The cotton fabrics (CF) with durable and stable antibacterial function is very important in the field of medicine and public health, and it is still a challenge to explore highly efficient antibacterial materials. Herein, by using one‐pot method of soap‐free emulsion polymerization, a kind of polymer cationic broccolo‐shaped nanoparticles (PCBsNPs) with antibacterial activities was synthesized, and applied to coating CF, which afforded PCBsNPs coating CF (PCBsNPs@CF). It was characterized by Fourier transform infrared microspectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, dynamic light scattering, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy and contact angle test. Their antibacterial efficiency against gram‐positive and gram‐negative bacteria was studied. It indicated PCBsNPs@CF presented efficient and long‐lasting antibacterial activities, and could effectively restrain bacterial adhesion. Its antibacterial and bacterial anti‐ adhesion mechanism was illustrated. Hence, PCBsNPs@CF had great application potential as clothing, medical dressings and home textiles.
