“…Porins are involved in the transport of Ag-ions and E. coli bacteria expressing mutated porin proteins are less susceptible to silver ions action [87]. Radzig et al [86] confirmed that E. coli mutant strains deficient in OmpF or OmpC porins were 4-8 times more resistant to AgNP when compared to the wild type strain, suggesting that porins have a key role in allowing AgNPs to exert their antibacterial effect.
