Antibacterial Activities of Transition Metal complexes of Mesocyclic Amidine 1,4-diazacycloheptane (DACH)

Abstract: The titled compound 1,4-diazacycloheptane have vibrational freedom which allows it to coordinate to metal through 1st and 4th positions. Copper (II) and Nickel (II) complexes of DACH were prepared and characterized through UV-Visible, FT-IR, elemental analyses, conductance, and magnetic susceptibilities and compared to the results published in Inorg. Chem., 8(3), 528 (1969). The prepared complexes bearing different coordinating or non-coordinating anions were screened against four different pathogenic bacteria… Show more

“…[13] A large number of metal complexes synthesized so far with various oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur or combined ligands have shown antitumor, antibacterial, antifungal, antituberculous and antihypertensive effects. [14][15][16][17] In addition, complexes are now being studied as potential synthetic antioxidants and yielding promising results in in vitro and in vivo studies.…”

“…Additionally, within intracellular nature of living organisms are micro or macro essential components entailing these metals? Antibiotics, anti-bacterial [5], anti-viral [6], anti-parasitics [7], anti-HIV [8], anti-diabetes [9], radio-sensitizing agents [10] and anti-cancer [11] compounds are some of the mediates that are encouraged through the new metallo complex drugs and clinical use of metal complexes. Therefore, here in this study, we have decided to construct the metal complex ligands based on Schiff base synthesized from Salicylaldehyde and alanine and serine moieties using deficient-oxygen linkage with metal chlorides, which may circumvent the antibacterial drug resistance.…”

“…These metal-based complexes have variable coordination modes, that generate curing drug activity and provide excellency in terms of reactivity in the realm of the organic substrate. 11,12 Through metal complexation of ligands, comprising of oxygen, nitrogen, hydroxyl, or ester functional groups, with metals like copper, zinc, cobalt, and iron, numerous finely-tuned therapeutic activities such as antihypertensive, antimalarial, and antimicrobial get enhanced. In addition, transition metal ion complexes are known to have a key electron transfer role in many biological processes.…”

“…Therefore, studies pertaining to ligands with multiple, medicinally dynamic binding sites may serve as models for ensuring biochemical processes. 11,15,16 In this context, the wide variety of potent biotic activities of MBHA encouraged us to synthesize new series of products belonging to this class of compounds, possessing different functionalities and exhibiting potential antioxidant activity. Keeping in view the significance of reported research on synthetic MBH adducts as medicinally important candidates and having the diversity of functions, we conferred them as ligands for the novel drug synthesis composed of their transition metal complexes.…”
