“…This par ticularly applies for connective tissue diseases [3,5,8,9,14], but IgA deficiency is also found in warm-type autoimmune haemolytic anaemia [6,7,14], pernicious anaemia [5,[10][11][12] and thyroid disease [2,3,5,13]. The autoantibodies observed include antinuclear antibodies [1,14], antibodies against striated [1,3] and smooth muscle [3], antibodies to the intercellular areas of stratified epithelium [1], gastric parietal cell and intrinsic factor antibodies [12], thyroglobulin antibodies [3], and an tibodies to native human collagen [18].…”
The incidence of a selective IgA deficiency was examined in sera from 682 patients with high-titered thyroglobulin and/or thyroid microsomal autoantibodies, and in sera from 2,985 blood donors. There was no statistically significant difference between the two series.

“…Tohoku J. exp. Med., 1985, 145 (1), [49][50][51][52][53][54][55] Laboratory data are presented on 48 patients with selective IgA deficiency. Sixty percent of the patients had autoimmune diseases or related disorders.…”
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
