Anti-oxidant and Anti-inflammatory Activity of Cassia auriculata (Flowers)

Abstract: Aim:To analyze the antioxidants and anti-inflammatory potential of ethanolic crude extract of Cassia auriculata flowers. Study Design: 2 kg of fresh flowers were soaked with 90% ethanol at room temperature (25ºC-30ºC). After 72 hrs the ethanolic extract was filtered. This extract was distilled and finally the crude was obtained. This ethanolic crude to get required concentrations and were used for screening antioxidants and anti-inflammatory activities.

“…Since ancient times, different parts of the cucumber plant have been employed in Ayurvedic medicine, among these, fruits are traditionally used to alleviate skin problem such as sunburn’s irritation and inflammation [ 20 , 21 ]. Recently in vitro evidences [ 22 ] suggested that a Cucumis sativus extract show strong anti-oxidant capacity and ability to stability the membrane of human red blood. Moreover, Patil [ 23 ] demonstrated that aqueous extracts of Cucumis sativus is efficacious on inflammatory model of ulcerative colitis in in vivo model of Wister rats.…”

“…At the top of the phytonutrient list for cucumbers are its cucurbitaceous, lignans, and flavonoids. These three types of phytonutrients found in cucumbers provide us with valuable antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer benefits (Muruganantham et al, 2016). Organic manure play direct role in plant growths as source of all necessary macro and micro nutrients in available forms during mineralization and improving physical and chemical properties of soils (Chaterjee et al, 2005).…”

“…The maximum inhibition zone of 14mm was exhibited at the concentration of 900µg/ml against the Staphylococcus aureus. These results were backboned by Muruganantham et al (2015) stating that a great anti-microbial activity against bacteria and fungi was shown by the compounds isolated from the ethyl acetate fractions of the Cucumis sativus lowers. Abiodun and Adeleke (2010) reported that the excellent source of protein, fat, minerals and calcium were present at the seeds of the plant.…”
