“…13 Rutin or quercetin-3-rutinoside is a flavonoid glycoside obtained from the leaves of Morus alba , and its antiobesity effect has been verified by studying the lipid accumulation mechanism in 3T3-L1 adipocyte and C57BL mouse models. 23 Both compounds, rutin, and quercetin-3-O-β-D-glucoside (Q3G), have been shown to enhance glucose uptake through the AKT-mediated insulin signaling pathway or AMP-activated protein kinase activation (AMPK) in 3T3L1 adipocytes and could potentially be used in therapy for T2DM management. 11 In addition to rutin, the leaves of Morus alba contain apigenin, quercetin-3-triglyceride, lupeol, β-sitosterol, moracetin, isoquercitrin, coumarin, volatile oil, alkaloids, amino acids, and organic acids, proving the hypoglycemic properties and their effect enhancer on diabetic nephropathy.…”

“…The enhanced expression of brown mark genes and beige specific genes (uncoupling protein‐1, peroxisome proliferator‐activated receptor‐gamma coactivator 1 α, cell death‐inducing DFFA like effector A, PPAR‐α, PRD1‐BF‐1‐RIZ1 homologous domain‐containing protein 16, and CD137) as well as transmembrane protein 26, nuclear respiratory factor‐1, mitochondrial transcription factor A genes for mitochondrial biogenesis and carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1 and uncoupling protein‐1 through AMP‐activated protein kinase and PGC‐1α pathway in inguinal white adipose and brown adipose tissues (Cheng et al, 2021). Flavonoid‐rich fraction and rutin (1000 μg/ml) from M. alba leaves cause a marked decrease in PPAR‐ɣ, FAS, IL‐6, and TNF‐α while increasing the expression of carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1 in the treatment group (Go et al, 2020). The white mulberry leaves contain 19 known compounds, four flavonoids, four benzofuran derivatives, two lignans, two coumarins, two megastigmane glucosides, three phenolic derivatives, and two alkaloids showed in vitro anti‐adipogenic activity of mulberry compounds on 3T3‐L1 adipocytes via inhibiting the lipid accumulation (Li, Jo, et al, 2018).…”
