Anti-inflammatory and antipyretic properties of Kang 601 heji, a traditional Chinese oral liquid dosage form

Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the scientific basis for the use of Kang 601 heji (K-601) as an anti-inflammatory and antipyretic agent using appropriate animal models. Methods: Carrageenan-induced rat paw and xylene-induced ear oedemas were models used to investigate anti-inflammatory actions of K-601. Lipopolysaccharide-induced pyrexia model was used to evaluate antipyretic activity in Wistar rats. The antiinflammatory and antipyretic mechanisms were evaluated by detecting prostaglandins E 2 , nitric oxide, interleuk… Show more

“…Animals intraperitoneally treated with NST promoted a significant reduction of nitrite concentrations at doses of 100 and 200 mg/kg. Interestingly, extraction fractions obtained from Alstonia scholaris L. containing alkaloids such as picrinine, valesamine, and escolaricin, which contain the indolic nucleus in their structures, also displayed the anti-inflammatory effect by inhibition of NO and PGE 2 biosyntheses [41].…”

“…These results suggested that the Galla Chinensis and indomethacin could slow down the inflammatory symptoms and had a remarkable inhibitory effect on the release of PGE 2 . Early results showed that IL-10 effectively inhibited the expression of cytokines and had an important role in stimulating immune and inflammatory responses [ 33 ]. Therefore, the level of IL-10 is also important for inflammation diagnosis.…”
