“…Findings indicate that resveratrol inhibits increases in the Th2 cytokines IL-4 and IL-5, decreased eosinophilia and total and ovalbumin-specific IgE and IgG2a [76]. Further decreased mucus hypersecretion and airway hyperresponsiveness was observed in ovalbumin sensitization and challenge model of allergic airways disease [76]. Using a similar mouse model of allergic airways disease, findings from our laboratory, indicate that systemic administration of resveratrol, inhibits airway hyperresponsiveness, reduces subepithelial collagen deposition and has antiinflammatory effects as assessed by TGFβ1 expression [77].…”

“…These effects were linked to inhibition of cytokine stimulated inducible nitric oxide synthase expression and nitrite production, inhibition of granulocyte-macrophage colonystimulating factor release, IL-8 release, and cyclooxygenase-2 expression [75]. Using a mouse model of allergic asthma, resveratrol has been shown to have potential antiasthma effects in vivo [76]. Findings indicate that resveratrol inhibits increases in the Th2 cytokines IL-4 and IL-5, decreased eosinophilia and total and ovalbumin-specific IgE and IgG2a [76].…”

“…Urate is hydrophilic and has chain-breaking properties and stabilizes vitamin C as well. Several authors observed decreased oxidative damage in asthmatic mice treated with antioxidants (Dittrich et al, 2009;Lee et al, 2009;Okamoto et al, 2006). Studies of antioxidant intake have provided conflicting results in asthmatic patients.…”

“…Kim et al reported that a water-soluble extract prepared from Actinidia arguta improved asthmatic symptoms via the down-regulation of IgE in mouse (5). Lee et al found that resveratrol, which has been identifi ed in various fruit and vegetable extracts, inhibited Th2-type cytokines such as IL-4 and IL-5, and suppressed airway hyperresponsiveness, eosinophilia, and mucus hypersecretion in an asthmatic mouse model (6).…”
