Anti-Inflammatory Activity of Acetophenones fromOphryosporus axilliflorus

Abstract: Seven acetophenone derivatives were isolated from the aerial parts of Ophryosporus axilliflorus (Griseb.) Hieron. These compounds were subjected to the carrageenan-induced mouse paw edema test where tremetone (7) showed extremely anti-inflammatory activity. Furthermore, the non-benzofuran acetophenones 5 and 6, showed a significant response.
