“…The anti-atherosclerotic effects of a mixture (HG) of Fermentum rubrum Hongqu and G. pentaphyllum gypenosides were investigated in Wistar rats. The study results revealed that the HG mixture had antiatherosclerotic effects that were better than statin, simvastatin, treatment highlighting the anti-atherosclerotic potential of G. pentaphyllum (Gou et al, 2018). In addition, HG alleviated oxidative stress biomarkers by restoring antioxidant defense components and decreasing the serum levels of antiinflammatory cytokines in male Sprague-Dawley rats with fatty liver disease.…”

“…Both vitamin D deficiency and toxicity can induce smaller carotid artery diameter and larger wall thickness in male Wistar rat models within 4 weeks [ 43 ]. Otherwise, short-period intraperitoneal injection of 150.000–200.000 IU/kg [ 44 ] and 700.000 IU/kg [ 45 ] vitamin D with intragastric administration of high-lipid emulsion within approximately 3 months was used to model atherosclerosis in rats. In humans, coexistence of hypertension and vitamin D deficiency enhanced the probability of developing small vessel disease; moreover, patients with this disease were more likely to be male with higher blood pressure and lower 25(OH)D level [ 46 ].…”

“…an aS rat model was established by intraperitoneal (i.p.) injection of 150 u/kg vitamin d 3 (Harbin Huasheng Science and Technology animal Medicine Factory) for 3 days, and rats were continuous feeding a high-fat diet to damage the arterial intima (14). in the fourth week, 10 rats from each of the two experimental groups were randomly sacrificed by i.p.…”
