ANRIL as a prognostic biomarker in colon pre-cancerous lesion detection via non-invasive sampling

Abstract: Long non-coding RNAs have been proposed as biomarkers for the detection, prevention and screening of various malignancies. In this study, two lncRNAs (ANRIL and BANCR) were assessed for biomarker application in the early detection of colorectal cancer (CRC) through stool specimen testing, as a non-invasive and cost-effective methodology. A total of 40 stool samples were collected from patients referred to the hospital with colorectal cancer or adenomatous polyps as pre-cancerous lesions; patients were diagnose… Show more

“…This review summarizes common epigenetic biomarkers for CRC (see Figure 1 ), including the methylation of VIM, NDRG4, BMP3, SDC2, SEPT2, SEPT9 genes, and the high expression of miR-21, miR-135b-5p, miR-92a-1, ANRIL [ 215 ]. However, their clinical diagnostic results for early CRC screening and prognosis still show individual variability.…”

“…Likewise, MIR31HG and WASIR2 demonstrated particular consequences as prognostic indicators for stage II CRC [ 112 ]. Decreased expression of ANRIL and increased expression of BANCR have also been confirmed as prognostic and early diagnosis of CRC [ 113 ]. Inhibiting epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling through suppressing the prognostic factor linc-ROR leads to a decrease in aggression, proliferation, and migration in CRC [ 114 ].…”
