Anomalous Origin of the Circumflex Branch from the Right Coronary Artery

Abstract: SUMMARY:Coronary anomalies are a group of congenital disorders. Most of the coronary anomalies are asymptomatic and benign but may cause myocardial ischemia and sudden death. Some of them are dangerous if they associate with other heart diseases. One of the congenital coronary anomalies is anomalous origin of the circumflex branch from the right coronary artery that is a rare congenital anomaly. We present a case of a 61-year-old man with history of hypertension, diabetes mellitus and hyperlipidemia. The coron… Show more

“…The diagnosis of anomalous origin of coronary artery from other arteries can be challenging. Most of the coronary anomalies are asymptomatic and benign but may cause myocardial ischemia and sudden death [ 50 ] . Anomalous origin of coronary artery is often associated with a pathophysiologic state of inadequate tissue perfusion and subsequent hypoxia [ 51 ] .…”

“…Coronary anomalies are a group of congenital disorders with highly variable pathophysiological mechanisms and manifestations [ 1 ]. Most of the coronary anomalies are asymptomatic and benign but may cause acute coronary syndrome and sudden cardiac death [ 2 ]. Most coronary anomalies are found incidentally during coronary angiography, and 0.6% to 1.55% of patients with coronary artery anomalies are found [ 3 ].…”
