Anomalous dimension of subleading-power N-jet operators

Abstract: We begin a systematic investigation of the anomalous dimension of subleading power N -jet operators in view of resummation of logarithmically enhanced terms in partonic cross sections beyond leading power. We provide an explicit result at the one-loop order for fermion-number two N -jet operators at the second order in the power expansion parameter of soft-collinear effective theory.

“…The evolution equations involve a new cusp anomalous dimension originating from the exchange of an ultra-soft quark between two collinear sectors. There has recently been an increasing interest in applications of SCET beyond the leading power in λ [57,[68][69][70][71][72][73][74][75][76]. The results obtained in this paper are an important contribution to this rapidly developing field.…”

“…The same-chirality operators containing a gluon field exhibit a more interesting behavior. Due to the dependence of the operators O Q LQL G and O q RqR G on the variable u, the anomalous dimension governing the multiplicative renormalization of these operators is a distribution-valued function of two variables u and w. We find that the scale dependence of the corresponding Wilson coefficients is determined by the evolution equation (with q = Q L or q R ) analogy with the derivation of the anomalous dimensions of the subleading SCET current operators arising in B-meson physics performed in [42,56] (see [57] for related recent work). It is convenient to use the background-field gauge [58] for the external gluon, in which the combination g s G µ,a is not renormalized.…”

“…One approach is to analytically calculate the power corrections to the SCET factorization theorem used in the below-cut region. The study of the structure of subleading power corrections to effectivetheory factorization theorems is also of general interest, and has received significant attention recently [21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29].…”

“…In this proceedings contribution, we summarize results from our study of subleading-power effects in high-energy scattering, in particular the anomalous dimension of subleading-power N-jet operators [1] in the framework of position-space soft-collinear effective theory (SCET). An N-jet operator describes the hard scattering of N energetic, massless particles with (outgoing) momenta p i with s i j = 2p i · p j + i0, i, j = 1 .…”
