Anomalous couplings for D-branes and O-planes

Abstract: We study anomalous Wess-Zumino couplings of D-branes and O-planes in a general background and derive them from a direct string computation by factorizing in the RR channel various one-loop amplitudes. In particular, we find that Op-planes present gravitational anomalous couplings involving the Hirzebruch polynomial L, similarly to the roof genus A encoding Dp-brane anomalous couplings. We determine, in each case, the precise dependence of these couplings on the curvature of the tangent and normal bundles.Comme… Show more

“…They have been confirmed by the S-matrix calculation in [15,16,17]. The above couplings have been extended in [18,19] to include the B-field at the order O(α ′2 ) by requiring them to be consistent with the linear T-duality transformations.…”

“…Let us conclude by mentioning that the six-dimensional chiral fermions localized at the intersections lead to an anomaly, which is nevertheless canceled by an anomaly inflow mechanism from the bulk of the D7 branes [26,27,28] …”

“…10 However, once we accept (6.26) as the quantum version of the exponentiated Kähler class, this ambiguity is lifted, and we come back to the same old Chern-Simons coupling to spacetime RR-tensors for D-branes and Orientifold planes [23,[27][28][29][30][31][32].…”
