Anomalous Behavior of Permeability Around the Curie Temperature in Amorphous Fe-Ni-Si-B Alloys

Abstract: The temperature dependence of initial permeability μi is measured in the temperature range from 4.2 K to the Curie temperature for amorphous (Fe1‐xNix)77Si10B13 (x ≧ 0.8) alloys. Anormalous peaks (1 to 3 peaks) are observed in the μ‐T curves near the Curie temperature. The change in the peaks with increasing the driving magnetic field is examined for x = 0.8 and 0.9 alloys. Based on these results, the anomalous peaks in addition to the Hopkinson peak can be explained in terms of the natural magnetic resonance.

“…A similar effect occurs during measurements of the magnetic susceptibility, which shows a sharp peak in a narrow temperature region around the Curie temperature. This behaviour of the magnetic susceptibility was observed for both the amorphous [48] and the crystalline [21,49,50] materials.…”
