Annotated Bibliography on the Teaching of Psychology: 1994

Abstract: This bibliography is a continuation of those published by Berry and Daniel (1984, 1985), Daniel (1981a, 1981b), Fulkerson and Wise (1987, 1990, 1992), Fulkerson, Wise, and Ancelet (1988), Johnson and Daniel (1974), Morgan and Daniel (1983), Mosely and Daniel (1982), and Wise and Fulkerson (1986, 1989, 1991, 1993). Search methods, criteria for inclusion, and other considerations were similar to those used previously. We also continued the cumulative numbering practice of previous bibliographies

“…For instance, 29 annotated bibliographies have been identified in the social sciences. Of these, most are annual updated reports of teaching resources in psychology building on previous annotations, not independent reports (e.g., Berry & Daniel, 1985;Dagenbach, 1999;Daniel, 1981;Fulkerson &Wise, 1995;Johnson, Schroder, & Kirkbride, 2005;Morgan & Daniel, 1983;Mosley & Daniel, 1982;Wise &Fulkerson, 1996). Four of these support teaching sociology (e.g., Goldsmid & Goldsmid, 1982;Lindstrom, 1998;South, '1989) and three, teaching history (Barbuto & Kreisel, 1994;Brazier, 1985;Popp, 1996).…”

“…Psychology fieldwork courses on community applications are apparently rare. A review of articles in Teaching of Psychology (Fulkerson & Wise, 1995;Johnson & Schroder, 1997Wise & Fulkerson, 1996) and handbooks on the teaching of psychology (e.g., Makosky, Sileo, Whittemore, Landry, & Skutley, 1990;Ware & Johnson, 1996) revealed only one similar course (O'Sullivan, 1993), which primarily involved internships, and not field trips.…”
