Annexin A3 promotes tumorigenesis and resistance to chemotherapy in hepatocellular carcinoma

Abstract: Annexin A3 (ANXA3) has been found to play important roles in cancer progression, metastasis, and drug resistance; however, its role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains unknown. In this study, we investigated the expression level, clinical significance and biologic function of ANXA3 in HCC. Real-time quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction, western blotting and immunohistochemical staining were used to examine ANXA3 expression levels in HCC tumor tissue, and its correlation with the c… Show more

“…Studies have demonstrated that ANXA3 is a potential biomarker for carcinogenesis, metastasis and resistance to chemotherapy in many cancers such as ovarian cancer [11], gastric cancer [12], breast cancer [13, 14] and liver carcinoma [15, 16]. But there is hardly any investigation of its role in CRC.…”

“…Overexpression ANXA3 is associated with cancer [23–24]. ANXA3 has been reported that increased in HCC [24] and as a potential target for immunotherapy of liver cancer stem-like cells [25].…”

“…Overexpression ANXA3 is associated with cancer [23–24]. ANXA3 has been reported that increased in HCC [24] and as a potential target for immunotherapy of liver cancer stem-like cells [25]. Collectively, previous findings demonstrate that ANXA3 has an important impact on the migration, invasion, and metastasis of malignant tumors [24–25].…”

“…Recent studies have shown that Anxa3 might function as either a tumor promoter or suppressor in different cancers [7, 8]. As found, the upregulation of Anxa3 expression could promote the development of colorectal cancer and gastric cancer [9–11] and enhance the metastatic activity of LADC [12].…”
