Anisotropy in Dijet Production in Exclusive and Inclusive Processes

Yoshitaka Hatta,
Bo-Wen Xiao,
Feng Yuan
et al.

Abstract: We investigate the effect of soft gluon radiations on the azimuthal angle correlation between the total and relative momenta of two jets in inclusive and exclusive dijet processes. We show that the final state effect induces a sizable cos(2φ) anisotropy due to gluon emissions near the jet cones. The phenomenological consequences of this observation are discussed for various collider experiments, including diffractive processes in ultraperipheral pA and AA collisions, inclusive and diffractive dijet production … Show more

“…This is in contrast to the more well studied Sudakov (or back-to-back) region (see e.g. [57,58]). To achieve this resummation, we will apply the light-ray OPE formalism [9,12,17,37,38].…”

“…A calculation based on TMD distributions is found in Ref. [32,33] and further investigated in [34,35]. However, in the region ∆φ 12 → π soft-gluon effects are expected which lead to so-called factorization -breaking [36][37][38].…”

“…These non-trivial azimuthal angle dependence of the soft functions can give rise to additional azimuthal angle correlations for electron-jet production. For example, it was shown in [81,82] that some novel azimuthal angle correlations can arise from the soft radiation in back-to-back dijet production in unpolarized proton-proton collisions, which involve φ q − φ J . In general, our formalism would naturally lead to such an azimuthal dependence in the unpolarized scattering if one realizes that the azimuthal dependence in φ b − φ J would translate to the φ q − φ J dependence after the Fourier transform from b back to q T space.…”
