Anisotropic Magnetic Phase Diagrams in EuRh₂Si₂

Abstract

Magnetic properties of EuRh 2 Si 2 were studied using single crystal samples grown by the Bridgman method. The temperature dependence of magnetic susceptibility and magnetization show large anisotropy at low temperatures, although the Eu ions in EuRh 2 Si 2 are divalent with the pure spin state of S = 7/2 and L = 0. In addition, the magnetic field effect on the antiferromagnetic ordering temperature T N is also very anisotropic, resulting in anisotropic magnetic field versus temperature (H − T) phase diagrams between H ∥ [100] and [001].
