Abstract:The organization of the cytokinetic ring at the cell equator of dividing animal and fungi cells depends crucially on the anillin scaffold proteins. In fission yeast, anillin related Mid1 binds to the plasma membrane and helps anchor and organize a medial broad band of cytokinetic nodes, which are the precursors of the contractile ring.
