Abstract:A study of the floating of a circular cone shaped buoy in an ideal fluid has revealed some new interesting results. Using reduced variables it is shown, that at a crossover value ( 3 4 ) of the ratio of the specific masses of the fluid and of the buoy, the anharmonicity of the oscillation is the highest and that, unexpectedly, above this crossover value the normalized period is constant.
