Reactions between 6Li and 6Li were studied in the laboratory energy range of 2-16 MeV. Angular distributions and excitation functions were measured for various proton, deuteron, triton and e-channels. In addition excitation functions were obtained for five 7-transitions in ~~ and the ground-state transitions in both 7Li and VBe. Detailed statistical model calculations were performed under various assumptions concerning the formation of the compound nucleus. It is concluded that a smooth cutoff of the entrance channel angular momenta yields the only consistent description for both angular distributions and excitation functions. Only a few proton channels are dominated by compound nucleus decay. All other channels reflect the complex structure of 6Li which causes a variety of direct reaction modes.Nuclear Reactions: 6Li + 6Li at 2 < Ela b ~ 16 MeV; measured angular distributions and excitation functions of p, d, t, e-channels and y-transitions in 7Li, 7Be, l~ statistical model calculations; deduced fusion cross section; reaction mechanism inferred.

Abstract. For investigation of the basic characteristics of 14.1 MeV neutron induced nuclear reactions on a number of important isotopes for nuclear science and engineering, a new experimental setup TANGRA has been constructed at the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna. For testing its performance, the angular distribution of γ -rays (and neutrons) from the inelastic scattering of 14.1 MeV neutrons on high-purity carbon was measured and the angular anisotropy of γ -rays from the reaction 12 C(n, n γ ) 12 C was determined. This reaction is important from fundamental (differential cross-sections) and practical (non-destructive elemental analysis of materials containing carbon) point of view. The preliminary results for the anisotropy of the γ -ray emission from the inelastic scattering of 14.1-MeV neutrons on carbon are compared with already published literature data. A detailed data analysis for determining the correlations between inelastic scattered neutron and γ -ray emission will be published elsewhere.

Abstract. Each 14 MeV neutron of T(d,n)He4 reaction is accompanied (tagged) by 3.5 MeV alpha-particle emitted in the opposite direction. A position-and time-sensitive alpha-detector measures time and coordinates of the associated alpha-particle for determining the time and direction of the neutron escape. A spectrum of gamma rays emitted as a result of the interaction of tagged neutrons with nuclei allows the identification of the chemical composition of the irradiated object. The recording of alpha-gamma coincidences within a very narrow time window provides the possibility of background suppression by means of spatial and time discrimination of events. The Nanosecond Tagged Neutron Technology (NTNT) based on this principle has great potentialities in various fields, such as the study of neutron scattering, revision of neutron differential cross-sections, measuring the chemical composition of ores in mining industry, the detection of explosives, mines, drugs and chemical warfare agents, etc. The Dukhov Research Institute of Automatics produces a complete set of NTNT equipment, including neutron generators with built-in alpha-detectors, electronic hardware for alpha-gamma coincidence data acquisition, mobile and stationary NTNT systems for various research, industrial and homeland security applications.
