Ángel Rivière and language: from Specific Language Impairment to Autism Spectrum Disorder (Ángel Rivière y el lenguaje: del Trastorno Específico del Lenguaje al Trastorno del Espectro del Autismo)

Abstract: The authors recount the years of collaboration with Angel Rivière between 1975 and 2000 around the issues of differential diagnosis of the different sub-types of severe language disorders and intervention methodologies. These exchanges encouraged a reflection about the models of language development and the ongoing validity of Angel Rivière's thinking from an approach that tries to explain this development from genetic reconstructions and an active role of the subject.
